The buffet, which has become unusable, belongs to Halk Ekmek, a municipal company established for providing cheap bread to people.
İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Spokesperson Murat Ongun said on Twitter that the "saboteurs" were still unknown and authorities were working to identify them.
The Halk Ekmek buffets have become a topic of public debate over the past few months as the members of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) previously tried to prevent the Metropolitan Municipality, which is led by the main opopsiiton Republican People's Party (CHP), from increasing the number of buffets.
Last week, two district municipalities led by the AKP tried to prevent the Metropolitan Municipality from setting up new buffets.
